One-of-a-kind US vacations

On my travels, I have found that there are a few places that the average traveler may not know about. They are some of my favorite vacation spots across the U.S., and they are a must on any traveler's bucket list. These little hidden gems will make you more than a little happy that you visited. No matter what kind of traveler you are, there is something for everyone on the list.

Stay under the water in Key Largo

Key Largo, Florida, is a spot that attracts people all on its own. It is known for its beautiful beaches and Spanish influence. There is more here than meets the eye. Hidden at the Key Largo Undersea Park is the only underwater hotel, a lodge that goes down 21 feet. It has all the amenities of a regular hotel, with hot water and microwaves. The one thing it has that you will not find anywhere else is the amazing view of the underwater paradise right from your room.

Stay up in the trees in Washington

Bring back your inner child by taking a vacation of a lifetime. In Issaquah, Washington, there is a place called TreeHouse Point. It is a hidden neighborhood of tree houses. That's right. You can live like Tarzan and Jane while on vacation. Sit back and enjoy nature. Take in the beauty that is all around you. No two cabins are alike, as they all have different features and layouts. This is a vacation spot that is quickly growing in popularity. Vacationers can enjoy relaxation on the huge porches of the tree houses. They can also do some exploring across the many swinging bridges found here as well. Take a trip back in time and enjoy the peaceful serenity that nature has to offer.

Wigwam Village in Holbrook

Down in Arizona, there are many things that tourists can enjoy. Arizona is home to the largest American Indian reservation in North America. The Navajo are some of the most experienced tradesman and horsemen in history. In the town of Holbrook, Arizona, you can take your desire to learn about these people one step further by staying in a wigwam. It is just off of famous Route 66, and opened for operations in 1950.

Sleep like a caveman

There is a place in the U.S., known as the Four Corners, where you can stand in four states at once. It is the corner where the states of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah meet. Here, you can also take it back to the times of the dinosaurs or pretend you're in bedrock at Kokopelli's Cave Bed & Breakfast. This remarkable place is actually carved into the mountain. It is 70 feet down into the bedrock, and shows the River Valley a whopping 250 feet below it. It's equipped with carpet throughout, but one feature in particular is my favorite. The shower comes from the rock wall down into the hot tub below giving you a relaxing once-in-a-lifetime soak.

Take the railway less traveled

In the heart of Amish Country lies a one-of-a-king vacation spot. Pennsylvania is known as having one of the largest Amish communities in the country. The authentic food and remarkable craftsmanship of the Amish is found here. Indulge in the wonderful bread and farm-to-table delights while staying in the Red Caboose Motel, found in Ronks, Pennsylvania. Caboose railroad cars are transformed into hotel suites. They come equipped with televisions, electricity and microwaves. Enjoy beautiful views of the country on your very own caboose.

There are a few places that are only found in America. The next time you want to travel to a place that you won't forget, take a look at this list. Then try one of these magnificent vacation spots. It is something that you will talk about for many years to come.
